Scammers Say They Are With Sunnyvale Court

Santa Clara County court officials caution the community not to give out personal information.

A Santa Clara County superior court is advising residents about a scam that involves people claiming to be with the Sunnyvale Court to obtain personal information.

The Santa Clara County Superior Court of California in San Jose said a person or a group of different people are calling residents and claiming to be representatives of the "Sunnyvale Court." The scammer then asks for personal financial information or payment, claiming this is required for a court case.

The court advises all residents to not provide any personal or financial information to anyone who contacts them by phone and claims to work for the court.

Court employees never demand this type of information, officials said. If someone does receive a call, authorities ask that people ask for the caller's name and the case number they are calling about.

To report a suspicious situation, concerned residents can call the court at 408-882-2700.
