Hi, Lisa. I went to Slim's nightclub in SF on Saturday and invited James McMurtry, the songwriting son of the novelist, to be in my Stenger Project. The very first words out of his mouth, as I was explaining myself below the din of the next band, were "Stegner was my dad's teacher when he wrote his first book" so he seemed to grasp the concept, although he warned me that what I was asking was not like chopping wood.
