The Los Altos Hills County Fire Protection District serves Los Altos Hills and parts of unincorporated Santa Clara…More County. It was formed in 1939 to provide firefighting and prevention services, and to ensure reliable water supply in such emergencies.
The district regularly monitors weed growth and maintains an active weed abatement program. It conducts free classes on fire prevention and emergency preparedness to any member of the public inside the district. It also provides free brush chipping program, dead pine tree removal program and a high-risk eucalyptus tree program, among others.
The town's main station is located at 12355 El Monte Rd. on the Foothill College campus, where it maintains equipment. The seven-member Fire Commission meets at 7:30pm on the third Tuesday of the month at the station, where the public is invited to attend. The commission is appointed by the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors.
