Funds raised by the educational foundation benefit the seven elementary schools and two junior high schools in the district. It seeks to prevent increases in class sizes at the elementary schools, maintain library hours and maintain manageable class sizes at the junior high schools. LAEF has an endowment fund and runs an annual fund campaign aimed at priorities parents have identified. The 2009-10 year ended with 1.82 million dollars raised. Because of continuing difficulties and uncertainties in the state budget for education, the foundation has committed to a 30 percent increase for the 2010-2011 year.
