Almond Elementary School is one of seven elementary schools in the Los Altos…More School District</a>. It is a California Distinguished School, located just a mile from the downtown center of Los Altos.</p> <p>It received an Academic Performance Index ranking of 9 out of 10 for the 2009-10 school year. <a href="http://api.cde.ca.gov/AcntRpt2010/2009BaseSchSS.aspx?allcds=43695186047450">Its 2009 API base was 962</a>.</p> <p>In addition to traditional classes, students can participate in chorus, the recycle club or a variety of other school activities during the school day. The school benefits from its proximity to Los Altos High School through performances by the school's well-known Main Street Singers and the band on Walk to School Day.</p> <p>After-school activities and clubs include Spanish, Mandarin, French, Hindi, chess, drama, flag football and basketball.</p>

YMCA Kid's Place offers a fun and safe place for children grades Kindergarten through six to learn, build confidence…More and social skills and make strong friendships. It offers half-day morning care and full-day, and after school, 3:15 to 6 p.m. care. The program operates out of a portable on the Almond Elementary School campus, providing California licensed school-age child care.
