Help One Child is a non-profit outreach group dedicated to helping children find foster homes in Santa Clara and San…More Mateo counties. The ministry recruits foster parents and volunteers to help and trains network families with parenting classes. It also offers "Camp Connection" to bring together foster and adoptive families and "Parent Child Connection," to provide support for the new relationships. The facilities are located at the Union Presbyterian Church, which donates the space for the program.</p> <p>Help One Child's mission is: "to recruit, train and support married couples or single adults willing to provide a home or volunteer services for foster children."</p>

Egan Junior High School, located in the northern part of the city, is one of two in the Los Altos School District. It…More was selected a California Distinguished School in 1988 and is designated a Sustained Distinguished School. </p> <p>It had a 2009 Academic Performance Index base score of 954.</p> <p>Egan has an active <a href="http://www.eganschool.org/egan2/parent_info/egan_pta.html">PTA</a> and provides information for <a href="http://www.eganschool.org/egan2/parent_info/helping_out_at_egan.html">parents to get involved</a> to help the school in a variety of ways on its Web site. There is also a <a href="http://www.losaltossepta.org/">Los Altos Special Education PTA</a> to foster communication and share information. Its leadership committee sponsored the adoption of a completely new special education curriculum for all grades for the Fall 2010. </p> <p>The principal is Brenda Dyckman.</p>
