Ken Yeager, when people immigrate through proper channels instead of breaking the law, the chancesRead More of infected people immigrating goes down. How about changing your 'open border, protect those here illegally' position? You can start with supporting civil detainers. Howard Myers

This list is ridiculous since it compares open public schools who take all comers (like our own MVLARead More schools) and private schools (charters, vouchers, selective) who can pick and choose their students. They might as well have thrown in Bellarmine and Pinewood while they were at it. The schools on the list that have 100% graduation rates have those statistics because they THROW OUT any student who won't otherwise graduate, or won't get into college. Real public schools can't do that. Congrats to Saratoga High, which ranks #15 in the nation if this contest wan't rigged. Los Altos High is ranked #41 in the nation among ACTUAL public high schools as well.
The dispute between LASD and BCS could be headed toward a legal showdown. (Photo Credit: Patch Archive)

Honestly, the BCS board and Wanny brought this on themselves. It was very clear on what theRead More facility split was for the grades. BCS had the opportunity to negotiate and contribute for something different. Instead they kept quiet and designed a curriculum flat out in violation of the site agreement. It sucks their kids can't use Blach or Egan facilities while not used by LASD kids according to the FUA/Prop39 schedule, but what choice does LASD have at this point other than to enforce all the rules given the clear violations? BCS could get back to the short term negotiations, which they have essentially walked out on, and work this out in a very short time.

Bullis served notice and summons to LASD last Wednesday of their lawsuit contesting the legality ofRead More various provisions in the 2013-2014 facilities offer, after weeks of fruitless attempts at negotiation. LASD's letter the following Monday was in retaliation for that lawsuit. The district is just posturing but it is hurting itself by the weak arguments in this letter. Tom Fenstermacher (LASD Parent) will no doubt point out that he thinks I am David Roode, so let me beat him to that. It doesn't make any difference who I am--the above sequence of events is accurate.

Congratulations David Roode, you figured me out! I must now admit that everything you've said isRead More spot on. Your years of expertise sleuthing from behind a computer without interacting with a single person face to face has honed your skills. I awe in your ability to objectively analyze our community and kids education purely from newspaper clippings and anything else you can find on the net. You have definitively proven you don't need to know anything about kids and social interaction to best formulate how our kids should be educated. [Somehow I don't think my sarcasm will be realized by you. Tom I am not].
