Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers with local chapter members who work together to improve their communities. The Los Altos-based club was founded in 1947 and all men and women are welcome to join. One of the Los Altos Kiwanis Club's best-known traditions beloved by Los Altos families is the Pet Parade, which celebrated its 62nd year in May 2010. Los Altos Kiwanis also started the Special Games for severely challenged children, which observed its 32nd year in 2010 and is now offered by other Kiwanis clubs in the district. Kiwanis Club's weekly Tuesday noon luncheons are held at 4546 El Camino Real, Suite B-4, part of the Village Court Shopping Center. It is open to visitors, guests and prospective members. Monthly dues include the Tuesday luncheon.
