Nestled in the historic Loyola Corners, Cafe Vitale offers fresh coffee, expresso drinks and tea, as well as gourmet pizza, soup and salad. The restaurant is warm and inviting, featuring both indoor and outdoor seating, where pets are allowed to join. It is a great place to go with a group, with kids or just on your own.

Owner Tracy Ross describes it as "Italian with a California flair." You can find a good margherita piazas and the menu also takes some "wide right turns." Try a turkey avocado and swiss in a calzone with remoulade. Every component is housemade, from the dough to the salad dressings to the soups. "People can come and feel good about what they're eating," she said. The chocolate cake may taste sinful, she said, but it's made with unbleached whole wheat flour.
