Los Altos' popular free summer concert series always switches off between Hillview Soccer Field in north Los Altos and Grant Park in south Los Altos.
Alphabet Rockers make their debut in the concert series' sole children's concert Thursday night (But not to worry—Linden Tree has Wednesday kids concerts, parents), 6:30 to 8 p.m., at Grant Park. Their signature: Hip-hop beats and kid-friendly messages.
Bring a blanket and pick up some food at Trader Joe's at the nearby Foothill Crossing, or a fab freshly made turkey sandwich at Alotta's around the corner, and you're in business.

Thursday
- Downtown Los Altos Farmers Market, 4 to 8 p.m., State Street
- Teen Movie Night, 7:30 to 10:30 p.m., at the Underground, Shoup Park. The debut Saturday for teens 13 to 17 is the first in a series. Free.
- The Community School for Music and Art will host an opening reception on 6 p.m. to 8 pm for artist Kathryn Kain whose exhibition of prints focusing on fruits, flowers and ephemera will be on display. The event takes place 230 San Antonio Circle. Free and open to the public.
- First Annual Downtown San Mateo Summerfest, Avenue B, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., features cooking demonstrations, kids activities, arts and crafts and live music.
Sunday June 23
- Come support Patty Juanes, her family and friends as they gather to raise funds for Leukemia and Lymphoma in honor of "Our Girl Jen," Juanes' daughter who died of cancer. All of the proceeds will go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and AADP. The walk is Sunday, June 23 at Shoreline Park and enrollment fee is $30; Each participant will receive a t-shirt and goody bag and will be entered into raffles to win SF Giants memorabilia or signed football from Jim Harbaugh. - Also at the park Shoreline Family Kite Day hosted by the City of Mountain View's recreation division, 1 to 4 p.m. It's an afternoon of single-string kite flying and fun! Free kite-making crafts activities for the first 100 participants, as well as a miniature kites display, food/beverage sales, and more.
- The Computer History Museum will host a staged reading of A Computer Simulation of God, at 2 p.m. It's the first public performance and is intended to introduce the project to the Silicon Valley community. Free event.
