Andrew Ng Achieves Eagle Scout Rank

Boy Scout Troop 75 honors the Homestead High School senior, who led a team to design and build five redwood planter boxes for the Living Classroom, at his old school, Covington Elementary.

 

Los Altos Boy Scout Troop 75, which will be celebrating its 50th year of serving Scouts in the area next year, recognized Andrew Ng for achieving the Eagle rank, the highest distinction in Boy Scouts. 

He was honored at an Eagle Court of Honor Ceremony on Sunday, March 25th at the Los Altos Youth Center.

Andrew started scouting as a Webelos Scout in Los Altos Pack 462. He held many leadership positions in Troop 75 including two terms as the Senior Patrol Leader and was recognized as 2008 Scout of the Year.

For his Eagle project, Andrew, an alumni of , led a team that designed and built five new redwood garden planter boxes with a drip irrigation system and renovated the surrounding landscape for the school's Living Classroom program. The Living Classroom program offers hands-on, garden-based lessons in science, math, and social studies. The project, which was partially funded by the Covington PTA, took 267 hours over a period of two months and required the coordination of over 20 volunteers.

Andrew, a senior at Homestead High School in Cupertino, is also a member of the National Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America and Science Bowl and enjoys Chemistry, Music and Track and Field.
