This Weekend on Tap: Arts & Wine, Summer Concerts

The Los Altos Arts & Wine Festival is the big event of the summer, but don't forget that there's fun before and during, with other events, after you've checked out some of the best artisans.

 

Summer is definitely here! Enjoy Los Altos and our surrounding areas at the season's midpoint.

As is the usual bi-monthly synergy, this week, the Los Altos Recreation Department's Summer Concert is at Hillview Soccer Field, slightly overlapping with the Downtown Farmer's Market, so grab some grub at one of the food stands or food trucks, spread out a blanket, and listen to some rock 'n' roll!

THURSDAY

Where / When: Hillview Soccer Field / 6:30 - 8 p.m.

Music. Free. Some weeks rock 'n' roll, some week's kids music, some weeks pop. Thursday night is The Best Intentions, described as classic rock. Upcoming: Foreverland, a Michael Jackson tribute band and the Bell Brothers, a country group.

 

 

Where / When: State Street and Third Street / 4 - 8 p.m.

Why Go: Organically grown fruits and vegetables from independent farmers, flowers, food trucks, locally made products and crafts. Thursday evening is a special "Kids Celebration," with lots of performances, crafts and fun especially for the kids. What's not to like? 

 

SATURDAY & SUNDAY 

LOS ALTOS ARTS & WINE FESTIVAL 

Where / When: Downtown Los Altos, centered on Main Street and Second Street / 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. 

Why Go: This is one of the premier festivals of its kind, attracting some of the best arts and crafts people from all around. There is a "Fun Zone" to keep the little ones active, and, of course, wine from Fernwood Cellars, Nauman Vineyards, Thomas Fogarty Winery, Martin Ranch Winery, Kings Mountain Vineyards, and Page Mill Winery.

Price: Free Admission

Los Altos Patch's travel blogger, Maureen Jones',  for a ship tour of the Celebrity line and luncheon in San Francisco.

 

Where / When: Rinconada Park, 777 Embarcadero Road, Palo Alto / 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

Why Go: You didn't see what you liked at the Los Altos Arts & Wine Festival? There's still more. More than 175 local artists will display the finest in hand-crafted glass and ceramic art. Meet the artists while shopping, or try your hand in activities such as live clay and glass technique demonstrations and a ceramic art project.

Price: Free Admission 

 

SUNDAY

MUSIC In THE PARK 

Where/When: Los Gatos Civic Center Lawn, 110 E. Main St. /  5-7 p.m.

Why Go: Not into arts and crafts shopping? The 25th season of Los Gatos' annual free summer outdoor concert series continues with White Album Ensemble, a Beatles tribute band. According to the Town's Web site: Lawn chairs are permitted, however, no blankets are allowed on the lawn before or during the concerts.
