SAN JOSE

San Jose Community 4th of July Celebration

Where: Kelly Park and San Jose State University Soccer Field (next to Spartan Stadium) (Free)

The fireworks display a the San Jose Giant Independence Day post-game event is always a sellout. But you don't need baseball tickets to see this one. A number of entities came together to make it a free event open to the pubic.

The community is invited to watch the fireworks free on the San Jose State University Soccer Field next to Spartan Stadium or at Kelley Park. All viewing areas will open at 5:00 p.m. Tailgating will be restricted from parking lots, and no alcohol allowed, due to the family nature of this event and state laws which regulate the viewing areas. People are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs to watch the fireworks from the Soccer Field or Kelley Park. No viewing will be permitted on the streets and no coolers are allowed on University property.

"Without the support from Comcast, San Jose State University, United Site Services and the City of San Jose this event would not have been possible," said Daniel Orum, San Jose Giants President and CEO.

Parking for the fireworks viewing will be available starting at 3:00 p.m.for $10 per car at the SJSU East Field and 7th Street Lot and Happy Hollow Park & Zoo/Kelley Park. History Park will allow parking for History San Jose members only. For more information on the event, visit the San Jose Giants website at sjgiants.com.

Fans coming to the game or just to enjoy fireworks should be aware of necessary road closures. Beginning at 8:00 AM, Alma Avenue will be closed between 10th Street and Senter Road. Fans can enter the San Jose Giants parking lots from the intersection of Alma Avenue and 10th street starting at 3:00 p.m. Spectators can also begin parking in the 7th street lot at 3:00 p.m.
