Kick Off Summer With Soccer League For Kids

Open registration for American Youth Soccer Organization starts Saturday.

The American Youth Soccer Organization is kicking off summer with a registration event Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. at .

“We’re a recreation soccer organization with a focus on developing soccer skills in young kids,” says John Keenan, regional coach administrator for Cupertino’s AYSO chapter.

Cupertino AYSO – Region 35 has about 600 children in the league, and the fall season, which runs from Sept. 10 to Nov. 12, is open for registration for the U5 through U19 divisions.

The chapter draws youth from neighboring cities such as Los Altos, Campbell, Saratoga, Los Gatos and West San Jose, Keenan says.

“AYSO is all around positive coaching, balanced teams, it’s open registration, and everyone plays,” he says.

The 10 week session—with an additional two weeks for practice—costs $105 for children under 6 and $135 for everyone else.

“There’s a sibling discount, too,” Keenan says.

Practices and games are held at Cupertino school fields.

The organization is run by volunteers and is always looking for help in areas of coaching, coordinators, refereeing, and board members.

Last call for registration is July 9. More information is available at www.ayso35.org.
