Ohlone Camp

This unique, active outdoor half day camp experience teaches children about Ohlone culture as they learn about the history of the land, wildlife and their local environment here in Los Altos Hills. Located in Byrne Preserve and taking advantage of trails and open space, this camp counters the highly structured play environment children have today by encouraging more interaction with nature. This way of learning and playing fosters a deep appreciation for the outdoors and a love of nature. Camp activities include climbing, hiking, Ohlone running and throwing games, digging for pigment rocks, picking grasses for art projects and learning to play using objects and tools found in nature. Woven through all the activities is the Ohlone perspective: how they lived on the land, what they ate, and what they thought of the wildlife around them.
