Foothill College hosts its second annual Learning Curve Bike Circuit Race, at which some 400 cyclists are expected to peddle around the 1.09-mile campus loop road, Sunday, July 1, in Los Altos Hills. Race-day registration opens at 7:15 a.m. The first race begins at 8 a.m., and additional race start times will be scattered throughout the day until the last race at 4:10 p.m. Admission for spectators is free.
The all-day event is a fundraiser and proceeds will be used to build a pedestrian/bike path from El Monte Road to the pedestrian bridge that creates safer access for students and the community. Foothill College is teaming up with the Los Gatos Bicycle Racing Club [www.lgbrc.org] to present the race. Held under USAC rules, the Foothill College Learning Curve Circuit Race is a member of the Lance Armstrong Junior Race Series.
Race categories include juniors, elite men, elite women and masters. The entry fee per race for juniors (ages 10-18) is $15; entry fees for all others are $30-$35 per race. Online registration is available at foothillcollegecircuitrace.com. Participants must present a current USA Cycling License at registration. A one-day or annual license may be purchased during online registration as well as on race day. There are no refunds. Volunteers are needed to help with same-day race preparations, including registration, fundraising and serving as racecourse safety marshals. To volunteer, sign up at foothillcollegecircuitrace.com.
Park in Lot 1 or 7 and walk to the race registration area. Purchase required parking permit for $3 from dispensers in these lots. All other vehicular traffic access to the campus will be closed from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on race day as a safety measure to protect cyclists and spectators.

The only problem with the charter school is that they cause more problem than they solve. They…Read More want to close Covington, then Blach. So, they don't provide flexibility at all. They keep going to court. This is a case were the remedy is worst than the disease. The original idea is that we have to be creative with the 10th site. Land is scarce, and most likely, we cannot provide the same facility than other school within the district. People are not happy about being moved from their school (with good reason I feel) Solution: provide an inspiring project. May be an immersion program, or a more academic program, or maybe a program to help english learner from K-3. If we don't innovate with a more flexible program, we might just need to redraw the boundaries every 5-7 years. Nobody can foresee the future, but you can build flexibility.

But beyond the…Read More definitions, I would like to ask why does palo Alto school District and Cupertino School district have a mix of neighborhood school and some choice school. Those are two high performing district right next to us. Can a choice school be an excellent way to stop the highly disruptive attendance boundary change ? People say I am for statu quo, that I am against change. I feel that family and children need stability, that is why we don't change spouse at the pace the BoT change the attendance boundary. People who want some stability at home (and their school) do make a reasonable request.
