What to Expect From Monday Night's LASD School Board Meeting

A new trustee will be sworn in, departing trustee Margot Harrigan recognized, and board officers will be chosen for 2011-2012.

New Los Altos School District Board trustee gets sworn in Monday night, to fill the term of  during the district's annual organizational meeting.

Harrigan, who has served on the board for 12 years, elected to retire after the school board extended terms a year by . 

Board members will vote on a new board president, vice-president, and clerk will be elected.

Appointments to the many committees will also be made. They include: Communications, Santa Clara County Committee on School District Organization, Santa Clara County School Boards Association, Community Health Awareness Council, Facilities/Modernization, Curriculum Council, Legislative Network, Consolidated Programs Committee, PTA Council, Budget Review Committee, City Schools Committee, Fields Committee.

LASD Assistant Superintendant of Business Services Randy Kenyon will present the interim financial report for consideration of approval, and present the tentative agreement with the California School Employees Association.

The board will also recognize Loyola Elementary School first-grader Mira Kaniyur, whose drawing of an elephant  to go into the permanent art gallery of the Santa Clara County Office of Education. There were 200 student submissions, county-wide. The students attended a ceremony inducting their art work into the gallery and toured the education offices in November.
