Update: What to Expect From Monday Night's LASD, BCS School Board Meetings

More discussion about a possible bond measure, a resolution to work in collaboration with the city, plus, trustees are discussing 'real property' as one of four topics in closed session.

 

The Los Altos School District board meets Monday night, and perhaps the most eye-catching thing on the agenda is one of the closed session topics. 

The board meets in closed session before the public session. Quite often it cites anticipated and existing litigation, or contract negotiations for closed sessions. Monday night contains a new reason for holding executive session: discussion of real property. No further information is provided.

Meanwhile, the also meets on Monday nights. At its regularly scheduled meeting it has scheduled discussion of its audited financial report for fiscal year 2011, and approval of the Form 990, used by tax-exempt organizations to report its financial information to the Internal Revenue Service, for fiscal year 2011. It, too, is scheduled to meet in closed session at the close of the public portion of its meeting. Patch has provided a pdf of its agenda, as well.

For the Los Altos School District, there is still much on the regular agenda for board watchers. Here are some highlights from the agenda, which is attached.

  • Bond measure discussion, including the timeline for the poll about the feasibility of a bond election. The board is discussing a document that contains the cost of projects needed under a Phase II modernization; and it would cover other needs "including, but not limited to, funds for a 10th school site, technology infrastructure, and upkeep of our renovated facilities."
  • Possible vote on a resolution to collaborate with the city on issues of "mutual interest." Patch was unable to get an elaboration, prior to posting time, of what those issues are.
  • Presentation of the process to fulfill the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) requirements in possible scenarios to house Bullis Charter School
  • Possible vote to request the Los Altos City Council support the . Staff recently completed research about the equipment and broadcast needs 
  • Discussion of the results of a recent surveys about district communication and about homework, circulated among students, teachers and staff.
