What to Expect at Monday's School Board Meeting

The Los Altos School Board holds its first meeting of 2012 with updates about the mid-year budget picture, and several programs.

The Los Altos School board meets just a week after the governor's $92.6 billion budget was announced, one that depends on voters approving a $6.9 billion initiative to increase taxes or see cuts to schools.

What that could mean for Los Altos School District will be addressed by Randall Kenyon, assistant superintendent for business services. The director of the state  Department of  Finance equated the magnitude of cuts to be the equivalent of shortening school by three weeks. The briefing is informational, and there is no action required.

Audrey Crowley and Jacqueline Jeffries, PTA co-presidents, will discuss PTA volunteerism at district schools.
