What To Expect at Monday Night's School Board Meeting

The Los Altos School District board will discuss financial updates, progress reports, staff successes and more at 7 p.m.

Financial updates, textbooks for all and more staff recognition, are just some of the topics to be discussed at Monday night's Los Altos School District Board of Trustees meeting, scheduled for 7 p.m. in the Board Room at 201 Covington Rd. in Los Altos.

Almost a month into the new school year, the school board will review last year's STAR test results, as well as the Adequate Yearly Progress and Academic Performance Index.

The board will also take some time again to recognize staff performance. Raquel Matteroli, an English Language Development coach, and Carrie Middleton, a Teacher, participated in a program this past summer to learn teaching, planning and assessing techniques for ELD. Additionally, Joanie Craddock, a teacher, and Genie Sitler and Erin Zaich, teachers, participated in a coaching program to expand their math knowledge and teaching techniques for the subject through the Silicon Valley Mathematics Institute

Randall Kenyon, assistant superintendent of business services, will present the unaudited numbers for the 2010-11 school year. And, Alyssa Gallagher, assistant superintendent of instruction, will give the board an option to approve a resolution that would assure each district student has sufficient textbook and instructional materials.

Kenyon will present the option to approve a resolution to restore ease in the budget to deal with possible budget cuts in mid-year.
