Two MVLA Students Chosen For $10,000 Scholarships

Mountain View and Los Altos High seniors win 'Innovator of Future' awards.

Victoria Greenen and Kelly Hamachi, two students have each won $10,000, officials from Sunnyvale-based Rambus, Inc. announced yesterday.

Both seniors, Greenen of Los Altos High and Hamachi of , entered the company's “Innovator of the Future” a scholarship program, which aims to recognize students' academic excellence, passion for technology, leadership in school, civic and extracurricular activities and motivation to serve and succeed.

“At Rambus, we are committed to helping future innovators broaden their educational opportunities beyond the classroom,” said Harold Hughes, president and chief executive officer at the  technology licensing company. “Both Victoria and Kelly have demonstrated their enthusiasm for exploring careers in the area of science and technology.”

The scholarship money will be for tuition and books at a college or university to be distributed in equal increments over four years at the beginning of each academic year.

Only students in their senior year of high school in Los Altos, Mountain View and Sunnyvale, who plan to attend a four-year college or university program, may apply.

  • 2010: Malvika Verma of St. Francis High School and Edward Gu of Los Altos High School
  • 2009: Sravanthi (Srav) Puranam of St. Francis High School and Louis Smith of Mountain View High School
  • 2008: Ryan Kelly of Mountain View High School and Sam Vesuna of Los Altos High School
  • 2007: Nwamaka Uzoh of St. Francis High School and Justin Lan of Pinewood School in Los Altos Hills
