St. Francis High School Band Competes in Fairfield

Donning ponchos, Lancers arrive for all-day, all-night, 36-band competition.

Tony Frye, 's assistant band director, was confident his students had done well marching in the cold rain. He talked as his students took a break huddled under a small tent, brass horns blaring in practice.

St. Francis students were in Fairfield for the 36-band Tournament of Champions, which boasts bands from around the Bay Area and parts of Sacramento Valley. It's an all-day, all-night affair with various competitions ranging from the parade performance in the morning to a field performance after dark.
