At the annual spring gifting dinner held on April 30, MVLA Executive Director Laura Roberts and Board President Mike Maciag presented the authentic and symbolic check to Superintendent Barry Groves and Joe Mitchner, MVLA District school board president. School board trustees, MVLA High School Foundation board members, school principals and lead volunteers were also in attendance.

“Hundreds of people in our communities contributed to help us reach this ambitious fundraising goal for our students. For the third consecutive year, we’ve increased not just the amount of donations but also the number of participating families and local businesses,” said Roberts.

“No matter what their dreams and goals, each student benefits when Foundation dollars provide reduced freshman class sizes, the newest science lab equipment, and investments in STEM programs.”

Additionally, MVLA Foundation continued to fund the award-winning tutorial centers, the SIS online grading system, extended library hours, PSAT tests and both College and Career Centers.

In addition to individual gifts from families of high school students, the foundation received notable support from local real estate agentsAmazonSmileUpToUs and local merchants

“The generous support from the MVLA Foundation makes an enormous difference in our schools’ and teachers’ abilities to manifest academic excellence in our public high schools,” said Groves.

“We have record numbers of students graduating and continuing on in colleges and careers of their choosing. Students tell me that they feel prepared for their future. This is attributable in large part to the many programs funded by MVLA High School Foundation.”

Over the years, donations to MVLA High School Foundation have funded academic programs to support students’ success, including:
