MEGA Millions Fever A Windfall For Schools

California schools mega-benefitted by the huge rush for tickets—to the tune of an estimated $100 million, the California Lottery said.

There may be a Mega Millions Mess over in Maryland but in cash-strapped California schools, we're thanking everyone who came out and bought a lottery ticket or two ... or three... or ten. All you new lottery players, returning lottery players, work pools—everybody with lottery fever last week—contributed to close to $100 million for schools, KABC-TV has reported. Thank you!

No district-by-district amount is available yet, but if you want to see what your schools have gotten in the past, the California Lottery site has a searchable database.
