Measure E Campaign Coming to a Close

Patch spent a morning with the Measure E Campaign volunteers.

Residents living within the boundaries of the Los Altos School District have until May 3 to vote on Measure E, a parcel tax measure that is the sole subject of a special mail-in election.

Measure E asks property owners to pay a second parcel tax of $193 in order to bring $2.3 million to the district, said Randall Kenyon, assistant superintendent of business services. It would sunset in six years. The original $597 parcel tax, approved by voters several years ago, would remain in place and does not have a sunset date.

Los Altos Patch followed the campaign for Measure E Saturday as the one of the parent leaders, Jay Gill, showed Patch the campaign's volunteer packets, phone-calling table and set-up, and took a campaign walk.

Administration, board members, parents and community members volunteered last weekend to help promote the passage of the measure.

Tuesday is the recommended final day to mail ballots via U.S. Postal Service to ensure they arrive by May 3, but voters can also hand-deliver their ballots to any designated drop-off site up to Election Day. This includes Los Altos City Hall and Los Altos Hills Town Hall during business hours.
