Los Altos, Cupertino Schools Make National List of Top High Schools

Cupertino placed three high schools in the annual rankings from Newsweek.

Los Altos High School was ranked No. 132 on Newsweek's list of the top high schools in the U.S. for 2013.

Bay Area schools fared well on this list of 2,000 schools, with six in the top 114, including Saratoga (No. 81), and Monte Vista High in Cupertino (No. 103).

Also making the list of top schools was Cupertino High School (No. 681) and Homestead (No. 684).

Newsweek's list highlights schools in the nation that turn out college-ready grads. The formula is based on graduation rate, college acceptance rate, AP tests, SAT scores and other similar factors.

Los Altos boasts a graduation rate of 99 percent, with 96 percent of its students college bound, and scored an impressive average of 1,801 on the SAT.
