Nature and Spirituality in America: Past, Present and Future
Nature and Spirituality in America—Past, Present and Future
Rev'd Dr. Malcolm C. Young
Thursday, April 28th, 6:30 Community Social & 7 pm Presentation
The Third Place at Christ Episcopal Church,1040 Border Road, Los Altos RSVP: http://natureandspirituality.eventbrite.com/
For centuries Americans have regarded nature as uniquely important for their spirituality and well-being. Time in nature is so vital that doctors are now prescribing "green time". By looking at the history of our relationship with nature, what can we learn about the significance of this connection in today's fast-paced world? How will our relationship with nature evolve over time?
Malcolm Young, author of The Spiritual Journals of Henry David Thoreau, offers an intriguing presentation and discussion about how Americans have understood nature in the past, our present understanding, and the importance of our future relationship with nature. Malcolm brings poems, essays, personal journals, paintings, photographs, and architecture to better understand the depth of what nature means to our everyday lives.
