League of Women Voters Lunch with the League Speakers Series: Superintendents speak on Schools...Squeezed

The League of Women Voters of the Los Altos/Mountain View Area continues its monthly Lunch with the League, a civic education speakers series discussing critical issues facing Los Altos, Los Altos Hills and Mountain View. Open to the community. All are welcome!

RESERVATIONS REQUIRED Wednesday prior to the Friday talk. Seating is limited.

Our future depends on how well we educate our children. The Superintendent is the CEO of the school district. The Superintendent’s office is responsible for overseeing (and guiding) the day-to-day operation of the district—in flush times and famine.

February 17, 2012 Guest Speaker: Superintendent Jeffrey Baier, Los Altos School District.

Superintendent since 2010, Jeffrey Baier said he cherishes working in the community where he grew up and working to meet the challenges schools face today. "What makes Los Altos a successful and unique district is that the entire community cares about educating its children." A St. Francis High School and San Diego State graduate, Baier brings 20 years of experience in educations as a teacher, assistant principal, assistant superintendent in Los Altos and Mountain View schools prior to becoming Superintendent.

March 16, 2012  Guest Speaker: Superintendent Craig Goldman, Mountain View-Whisman SD

Also in his second year as Superintendent, Craig Goldman is in his 14th year with the Mountain View-Whisman School District, serving most recently as Chief Financial Officer and principal.  Raised in a Chicago suburb, his educational background includes an A.B. in Human Biology from Stanford University, a J.D., Law and M.A. in Education from UCLA and an M.Ed. from San Francisco State.

 April 20, 2012  Guest Speaker: Superintendent Barry Groves, Mtn.View-Los Altos Union HSD

Dr. Barry Groves has served as superintendent of the Mountain View-Los Altos High School District since 2006. Previously, Groves was superintendent of the Cambrian School District in San Jose for 14 years. During his career, he has served as an assistant superintendent, principal, assistant principal, currculum coordinator, consultant and high school teacher. He holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from UCSB. His Ed.D. and another M.A. degree are in Administration and Policy Analysis from Stanford University.
