Afghanistan: The End Game and Prospects for the Region
The World Affairs Council of Northern California Peninsula Chapter is pleased to announce the annual “Kicking Off” event with a very timely subject that continues to be a major foreign policy issue. Karl Eikenberry, the former Ambassador to Afghanistan and retired Lt. General, will be speaking on “Afghanistan: The End Game and Prospects for the Future in the Region.” His discussion will include the challenges as the United States and NATO withdraw combat forces from Afghanistan and the implications for the surrounding region. His unique military and diplomatic background allows an insight to balancing diplomacy with military actions in United States foreign policy.
The event will be on Sunday afternoon on September 23 with check-in at 2:30, the Program at 3:00 and the reception at 4:30 PM. We are asking attendees to preregister and to make a small contribution (members $10, students $5, and non-members $15) so that we can prepare the reception for the correct number of people. You can register by calling the WAC San Francisco office at 415-293-4600 or by going on line at http://www.worldaffairs.org.
