Congratulations 2013 Los Altos College Graduates!

Local students graduated from Colby College, Emory University, M.I.T., Miami University and S.M.U.

Colby College, Waterville, ME

Two local students were among 502 graduating seniors Colby College on May 26, 2013. They include:

Shelley L. Kind of Los Altos Hills, the daughter of William and Jaynie Kind of Los Altos Hills, Calif., majored in English with a concentration in creative writing and psychology and is a graduate of Castilleja School.

Greg M. Seyfarth of Los Altos, the son of John Seyfarth and Carolyn Broadbent Seyfarth of Los Altos, majored in physics and is a graduate of Los Altos High School.

Founded in 1813, Colby College is the 12th-oldest independent liberal arts college in the nation. With 1,825 students, Colby provides a rigorous academic program that fosters transformational relationships between students and faculty.

Emory University, Atlanta, GA

Emory University graduated three local students at its 168th commencement ceremony on May 13, 2013. They include:

Danielle Chou of Los Altos Hills, received a Bachelor of Science from Emory College of Arts and Sciences

Edmund Xu of Los Altos, received an Associate of Arts from Oxford College of Emory University the two-year liberal arts division of Emory. Xu was also named to the Honor List of Oxford College

Samuel Kridl of Los Altos, received a Doctor of Physical Therapy from the School of Medicine of Emory University 

Emory University is known for its demanding academics, outstanding undergraduate experience, highly ranked professional schools and state-of-the-art research facilities. Emory encompasses nine academic divisions

Massachussetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA
Alexandra Michon Westbrook (MVHS ’09) graduated from MIT on Friday, June 7th, 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical-Biological Engineering and a minor in Management. She will be entering the Ph.D. program in the Cornell University School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering in the fall after spending the summer cycling around Europe.

Miami University, Oxford, OH
Elizabeth Muir Thomas, of Los Altos, was among 3,678 students from Miami University who received degrees during spring commencement exercises Saturday, May 11 at Yager Stadium. Thomas received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree Miami University is a public university located in southwestern Ohio, offering more than 100 degree programs 

Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas
Amanda Hix, a resident of Los Altos Hills received a Bachelor of Arts in political science, psychology during the May 2013 SMU Commencement ceremony. SMU is a nationally ranked private university of 11,000 students that has seven degree-granting schools.
