Vote On Bullis School Final Offer Is Monday

The Los Altos School Board will discuss—and vote on—what offer to make to the Bullis Charter School for the 2012-13 academic year. Patch will cover it live.

In one of the closest-watched meetings of the year, the will vote Monday on its final offer to the l for the upcoming 2012-13 year.

In anticipation of a large turnout, the board will meet in the Covington School multi-purpose room

Los Altos Patch will utilize CoverItLive to report on the meeting in the same way it did of, and public commenting on, the alternative to and the 7-8 grades at Blach Intermediate School.

As indicated in last Monday's meeting, the discussion and vote will consider the original offer or an alternative idea. That idea and housing the 7-8 grades at Egan Jr. High School, where BCS is now.

The board also has the following items on the agenda and will:

  • Continue its discussion of a potential bond measure for a 10th campus.
  • Consider a $21,000-$36,000 contract with EMC consultants for polling services for a potential bond measure.
  • Consider asking the City of Los Altos to reopen the back entrance of Egan Jr. High School.

The board agenda is attached to this story and is available online on the district site, with any supporting documents (readers should click on the word, "Meetings" in the upper lefthand corner).

I have a lot of comments about Bullis Charter School, but rather than reiterating them here, I have two nicely formatted blog postings that summarize my thoughts: "Bullis Charter School: Choice Costs Money" Here I talk about how BCS's financial approach takes money away from typical LASD students because they do to share in the burdens "the rest of us" must pay for: http://bullischarterschoolthoughts.blogspot.com/2012/03/bullis-charter-school-costs-us-all.html "Bullis Charter School: a "Post War" Vision" A positive vision for Choice--properly paid for--here in Los Altos. BCS in its current form will NEVER cause anything by strife in our community. It MUST make fundamental changes if it is ever to properly join our community in a positive way: http://bullischarterschoolthoughts.blogspot.com/2012/03/bullis-charter-school-post-war-vision.html Thank you.

Sure. Want to SHARE the burden of paying for special needs kids and teacher retirements that the rest pay for? Want to SHARE your donations with the rest of the District like our LAEF donations are shared so less advantaged kids can be helped too? Didn't think so.
