Adult Ed Graduation Ceremony Is the Largest Ever

The May 30 ceremony at Mountain View High School included a pair of sisters, a pair of brothers, and a husband-and-wife pair.

Did you know we had graduates of the Adult Education program? And they wear mortarboards, too.

The Mountain View - Los Altos Adult Education Graduation was held on May 30, 2013 at Spartan Theater in Mountain View High School.

This year's graduating class was comprised of 87 General Equivalency Diploma  GED) graduates and 29 High School Diploma (HSD) graduates, for a total of 116. It was the adult school's largest since it started tracking numbers in 2000.

There were some other notable milestones. The GED graduates included one pair of sisters, another pair of brothers, and a husband-wife pair.

The school had over $20,000 in scholarship funds donated from The Nicholas B. Ottaway Foundation, Mountain View Rotary Club, Mountain View Kiwanis Club, Los Altos Kiwanis Club, and the MVLA Adult Education Staff Scholarship Fund. 

Julie Vo, High School Diploma and GED Programs Coordinator, said she is "very proud of our graduates and the collaborative effort between motivated students, knowledgeable and supportive teachers, and strong leadership. 

"Each member of our High School Diploma/GED team has shown true commitment in helping each and every student achieve personal success."
