Tuesday Public Hearing on Garbage & Recycling Rates
Sewer rates are going up, what's next? The public is asked to weigh in on a proposed hike in garbage and recycling pick up rates at 7 p.m. in the City Community Chambers.
The Los Altos City Council wants to raise garbage and recycling service rates by 3.86 percent, beginning July 1.
A public hearing is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Both residential and commercial rates will rise under the proposal. Rates were last set on Oct. 1, 2010. The rate proposed is based on the Consumer Price Index for the San Francisco Peninsula.
Written protests may be filed with the City Clerk in a sealed envelope addressed to: Solid Waste Rates, City Clerk, City of Los Altos, 1 North San Antonio Road, Los Altos, CA 94022.

Your letter must identify the real property you rent or own by street address and assesor's parcel umber. Your letter must be legibly signed by any one of the current property owners or service recipient at that property as filed by Mission Trail Waste Systems.
E-mailed and faxed letters of protests will not be accepted. Letters must be received by 5 p.m., June 26, at City Hall, or it must be presented at the City Council meeting, prior to the close of the public hearing.
