Take Advantage of State Street Green Through June 13!

Outdoor shopping and a Houserockers concert!

From the City of Los Altos regarding State Street Green:

The State Street Green has returned through Friday, June 13!

As part of the construction agreement between Safeway and the City of Los Altos, Safeway contractors are responsible for updating the intersection and crosswalks at the corner of First and State Streets to match the recently completed downtown Streetscape improvements.

The construction in this area calls for the closure of First Street between the Central Parking Plaza (behind Peet's Coffee) and the North Parking Plaza (behind Balisimo Salon) as well as the block of State Street between First and Second Streets for a period of three weeks.

The City has been working with downtown merchants to coordinate activities to help drive interest and foot traffic in the area during the street closure.

It was decided that bringing back the State Street Green would help draw community members downtown during construction.

The State Street Green will be open for public use during the 3-week closure, with just a few activities currently planned.

Shopping on the Green
Saturday, May 31
11 a.m. – 5 p.m.

In coordination with the Los Altos Village Association, downtown shops will be setting up outdoor displays of their merchandise on Saturday, May 31.

Some may remember the Sidewalk Sales in years past – this will be a great opportunity for shoppers to stroll the downtown shops and hopefully take advantage of the unique outdoor space provided by the State Street Green.

Concert on the Green
Friday, June 6
6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

Gather with friends and family and head to downtown Los Altos for a FREE concert by the Houserockers on the State Street Green!

With a wailing 5 piece horn section and rock solid rhythm section of 2 guitars, bass, drums and keys, the band brings the timeless classics to life.

Be sure to stick around after the show and stroll downtown shops participating in First Friday's enter-to-win prize giveaway and enjoy more bands playing downtown until 9 p.m.

This concert is co-sponsored by Passerelle Investment Company and the City of Los Altos.
