Traffic along El Camino Real may be slowed this week by a road maintenance project on southbound lanes in Mountain View, Sunnyvale and Santa Clara.
The project starts at 10 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27, when workers from the California Department of Transportation will start to grind and place hot mix asphalt on southbound lanes. The portion of El Camino Real affected will be between Lawrence Expressway to just west of State Route 85 in Mountain View.
Caltrans officials said they plan to keep at least one lane of traffic open during construction and will post signs to assist motorists traveling through the construction zone. The work will take place 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. weekdays, except Aug. 31 when work will be suspended because of the Labor Day holiday.
The work schedule is as follows:
- Aug. 27: Start on Bay Street in Mountain View to Mathilda Avenue in Sunnyvale
- Aug. 28: Start on Mathilda Avenue to Lawrence Expressway in Santa Clara
- Aug. 29: Start on Bay Street in Mountain View to Mary Avenue in Sunnyvale
- Aug. 30: Start on South Mary Ave in Sunnyvale to Maria Lane in Sunnyvale
