President Obama Departs After Speedy Fundraising Stop in South Bay

President Barack Obama left the Bay Area this afternoon after a quick visit that included fundraising events in San Francisco and the South Bay earlier today.

The president departed from San Francisco International Airport at about 1:47 p.m. on Air Force One. Obama attended a House Majority PAC event at the Four Seasons Hotel in San Francisco this morning before heading to Los Altos Hills around noon for a private Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee fundraiser at the home of Judy and George Marcus.

George Marcus is the founder of real estate brokerage firm Marcus and Millichap.

Among the other attendees at the noon event, where tickets started at $10,000 per person, were House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi and Rep. Anna Eshoo, D-Palo Alto.

The president's motorcade was met along the way to the noon event by a crowd of protesters advocating for Internet neutrality, immigration issues and the Israel-Gaza conflict.

He was then taken by the Marine One helicopter from Foothill College back to SFO.

This afternoon, Obama is en route to Los Angeles where he will continue his Democratic fundraising tour.
