No Conflict of Interest Here, Counsel Says

The county counsel has advised the Santa Clara County Office of Education that the redistricting effort was not compromised by the work of two participants.

Santa Clara County Superintendent of Schools Charles Weis told the Mercury News that counsel has opined there were no ethical breaches in the work of committee charged with redrawing district lines.

One concern was raised over the wife of Trustee Leon F.  Beachman participating in the redistricting process, though she has since recused herself from the process. The other involved a consultant who is drawing the maps on the new district scenarios being the same consultant who has worked for Bullis Charter School.

The Santa Clara County Committee on School District Organization will meet to redistricting Feb. 15 and 29. Read the story here
