New Los Altos City Council Assignments Announced

A councilmember's work is never finished, as evidenced by the long list of committees on which members serve. Here's your guide to who will do what.

As part of their jobs, Los Altos City Council members log a lot of hours meeting with folks. Besides council meetings, each member also sits on several intergovernmental boards and commissions, as well as city committees.

On Tuesday night the council finalized the assignment list of who gets to sit on which board or committee in 2011, and who is an alternate for those bodies, in case a fellow councilmember cannot attend a meeting (see the PDF).

Intergovernmental boards and commissions range from the Chamber of Commerce Business Roundtable to the Santa Clara County Cities Association, the Association of Bay Area Governments, the Santa Clara Valley Water Commission and the Valley Transportation Authority.

Council committees include such things as the Personnel Committee, the Dog Park Committee, the Redwood Grove Committee and the City/Schools Issues Committee.

It's a tough job, but somebody's got to represent the city's interest at those meetings.
