New Downtown Valet Service Offered Through Dec. 24

Downtown parking worries? No need! The city, merchants and a one landlord have teamed up for a pilot program to test valet parking in downtown during the holidays.

The City of Los Altos is offering free valet parking service for downtown customers from December 14th to 24th (excluding Sundays) in Central Parking Plaza 5 between Second and Third streets.

This program will maximize the available parking spaces in the highest-demand area of town and will encourage customers who may be concerned about limited parking availability to still patronize downtown this holiday season.

Valet parking will be offered on a trial-basis this year to see if it is successful in offsetting the high parking demand during the holiday season. The program is modeled after a similar program run by the City of Los Gatos for the past 10 years. The Los Altos Village Association (LAVA) and the Chamber of Commerce have both generously contributed funds to offset the cost of providing this holiday service.

In addition, Passerelle Investment Company has offered to lend their bicycleracks for valet bicycle parking. Gemma, at 208 Main Street, has offered use of their back patio toaccommodate the bicycle valet parking.

Central Parking Plaza 5 will be operated exclusively by the valet company, Corinthian Parking, from10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The plaza will be closed to public use before and after the valet hours. The valet station will be located off of the Third Street entrance to the plaza. Customers who use the valet service will not be subject to the posted time limits in the plaza.

The impetus for the program came from merchant suggestions at an October merchant stakeholder meeting, as part of the Downtown Parking Management Plan.
