Los Altos Budget Study Meeting Tonight

Both revenue and expenditures appear to be stable over next two years; city continues to be in the black.

Residents can get a first look at the Los Altos biennial budget Tuesday night at a special City Council budget study neeting at 5 p.m. in the Council Chambers, 1 N. San Antonio Rd.

The complete draft budget is on the city's website.

A summary shows that city staff expect revenues to grow by 2.4 percent from this year to next year, and expenses to decrease by 2.53 percent.

The city expects a slight surplus in 2011-12, with revenues of $39 million and expenditures of $38 million, and a roughly balanced budget in 2012-13, with revenues and expenditures coming in at around $39 million each.

According to the budget report, staffing levels will remain the same, with eight vacancies frozen.

In addition to tonight's special meeting, the council will conduct a public hearing on the budget on June 14, during its regular meeting at 7 p.m. The council expects to adopt the two-year budget on June 28.
