Eight Commisioners Appointed in Los Altos

The City Council made appointments to the Environmental and Planning commisions, but held off on decisions for the Traffic Commission, which is still the subject of restructuring talks.

The Environmental Commmission and the Planning Commission got new members Tuesday during the Los Altos City Council meeting.

Eight residents were appointed or reappointed to five city commissions, and the council continues to hold off on appointing new members to the .

The council voted to appoint Zahra Ardehali to the Environmental Commission to an unexpired term ending in 2015. To the Financial Commission they appointed Robin Dickson, Harold Guthart, Les Poltrack, and Roger Sievers to terms expiring in 2016.

The council appointed Nancy Ellickson to an unexpired term ending in 2013. A full term expiring in 2015 was left unfilled, and Carpenter said the position would be re-advertised.

The council reappointed John Baer to the Planning Commission for another term, as well as James Chiang to the Traffic Commission. The council agreed to hold off on appointing any new members to the commission, however.

In a related matter under the consent calendar, the council voted to disband the Grant Writing Committee. The committee was a pilot project started nearly three years ago to help the city in its efforts to win grant monies for various public projects. A lack of candidates and more work for city staff prompted the Personnel Committee to recommend ending the pilot.
