Arastradero Pathway Ground Breaking

Stanford University's $1.2 million project at Page Mill Road and Arastradero Road will link up to trails that lead to the Baylands.

 

Los Altos Hills and Stanford University held the official ground-breaking ceremony Friday for a $1.2 million pathway that will link up to paths that eventually lead to the Baylands.

Town Council, Pathways Committee and Stanford University's representative donned hard-hats and reflective vests to put their shoulders into the soft dirt deposited for the occasion next to the Park & Ride lot at the Arastradero Road and Page Mill Road intersection.

It was a long time in coming, having consumed at least one year in hearings and back-to-the-drawing board directives, finally receiving approval last year.

Council members Rich Larsen arrived via bicycle, shortly after former Mayor Breene Kerr, who had started the discussion with Stanford on the project. It underscored the interest of cyclists in the route, which is crosses the heavily trafficked Page Mill Road and Arastradero intersections.
