Annie's Update: Curbs, Grading and Excavation on First Street This Week

Rain delayed work by several days last week.

It rained on Apricot Annie’s parade last week, delaying construction on First Street in downtown Los Altos by several days.

With a slight chance rain in the forecast this week, let’s hope more progress is made toward getting First Street up and running in time for holiday shopping. In the meantime, Annie keeps us updated on all the latest.

Each week, Annie's Update, more prosaically named "First Street Construction Update," lands in email boxes all over town. This service began when First Street construction ramped up two months ago. Each week Patch provides an abridged version of the update.

Despite the rain, several items were checked off the city’s to do list. Workers continued work on the new traffic controller next to Foothill Expressway, completed metal rebar for the first stone monument foundation, and completed excavation for the fountain foundation on First Street.

Contractor crew members attended remedial safety training on utility markings and excavation protocols in the wake of the .

On this week’s schedule:

  • Continue pouring concrete for new curbs along First Street
  • Continue grading on First Street roadbed
  • Continue work on the new traffic signal control box
  • Begin construction of new 6: lateral sanitary sewer line on First Street near State Street
  • Continue work on signal lights and signal controller box
  • Continue excavation for new irrigation lines
