Altamont Road in Los Altos Hills is closed between Black Mountain Road and Briones Way because of a downed utility pole, the Santa Clara County Sheriff said Monday.
An unknown number of households were without power; PG&E did not respond to a request for information.
Lt. Don Morrissey and Los Altos Hills Town Manager Carl Cahill provided the following report, which will be updated by Patch as information is available from responsible agencies:
The pole came down after an 18-year old driver crashed her large SUV into it at about 7:50 a.m. Monday. The driver had a possible bloodied nose, but no major injuries, Lt. Morrissey said.
The Sheriff's Office, PG&E and fire department responded initially. The town crew was manning the road closure barricades while PG&E works, until it is safe to reopen the travel lanes, which has varied estimates of 8 or 9 p.m.
The Fire Department sent out an SCCAlert. The Town folllowed up with a RapidNotify alert with updated road reopening information.
