Businesses and restaurants on and near First Street were evacuated for around an hour on Thursday morning, after street excavation work ruptured a gas main, according to a city report.

Workers called 911 at 10:38 a.m. Los Altos Police arrived at 10:40, and immediately began evacuating neighboring businesses. County Fire was on the scene just two minutes later. PG&E reportedly arrived at 11:03, and the ruptured pipe was sealed by 11:11.

The city report states that there were no injuries, explosion, fire or property damage as a result of the rupture. The report didn't specify if the accident will cause a delay in construction work.
