TRAFFIC ALERT: State Street Closed for Los Altos' 60th Anniversary Bash

A lot is happening downtown to honor the city, but traffic could be a headache unless you plan ahead.

If you plan to drive to downtown Los Altos Saturday evening remember to avoid State Street, the Los Altos Police Department suggests.

State Street will be closed on Sept. 29 from 2:30 p.m. until 11 p.m. due to the Family Concert on State Street, which will turn the thoroughfare into a temporary lawn (don't forget your picnic basket), according to Sgt. Cameron Shearer.

This could create spillover traffic and parking issues on neighboring streets.

The free Family Concert, which goes from 5 to 8 p.m. on State Street from Second to Third Streets is in celebration of Los Altos' 60th anniversary. At the event, enjoy the kids imagination playground at  5 p.m., the very festive birthday cake ceremony at 6 p.m. and the concert with The Alison Sharino Band until 8 p.m.

Flow of traffic should resume normally after 11 p.m.

This was a wonderful and fun event. I understand it was organized and paid for by Passerelle Investment Company. Thank you Passerelle and everyone else who helped make this a reality.

We'll have pictures posted tomorrow, and we invite you to post your own photo of this amazing sight of lawn on State Street and much fun all around! In the meantime, sometime later, we'll also post photos of PARK(ing) Day event, which was another fun experiment in Los Altos.
