Top 5 in Los Altos Crime: Accidents and Alarm Malfunctions

Among a series of accidents Tuesday, an individual is arrested for hit-an-run accident, residential alarms apparently malfunction, and police check on the well-being of our neighbors.

Along with barking dogs, 911 hang-ups, and property found, the following incidents were reported in a quiet Tuesday.

1. Residential Alarms

11:47 a.m., 800 block of Dover Ave., Residential alarm, officers check premises, no sign of break-in; possible malfunction.

- 11:51 a.m., 700 block of University Ave, Residential alarm, officers check premises, no sign of break-in, possible malfunction.

2. Accidents 

- 12:01 p.m., Loucks Avenue and San Antonio Road, accident, no injuries, property damage only, report taken.

- 12:14 p.m., S. El Monte Avenue and Woodstock Lane; accident, no injuries, traffic collision, property damage only, report taken.

- 12:48 p.m., Foothill Expressway and S. Springer Avenue, accident, no injuries, traffic collision, property damage only, report taken.

- 7:48 p.m., Grant Road and Waverly Place; accident, hit and run, officers have contact with the driver, driver arrested.

3. Check on welfare

- 9:04 a.m., 01 block of Main Street, area checked, no emergency found, information only at this time.

- 4:56 p.m., 100 block of Lyell Avenue, no crime, officer assisted.

 

4. Theft

- 11:34 a.m., 5000 block of El Camino Real, identity theft - unauthorized use of credit card, report taken.

- 6:22 p.m., Los Alto Rancho, petty theft, just occurred, report taken.

 

5. Fraud, 4:24 p.m., 200 block of Main Street, cold report, late reported fraud case, report taken
