Top 5 From the Los Altos Police Log, Jan. 5: Coyote Spotted?

A coyote was gone by the time officers got to south Los Altos, and downtown was without power for about four hours Thursday. Police made an arrest in a Mountain View domestic violence case.

The following are reports from the Los Altos Police log on Thursday, Jan. 5. All incidents listed are initial reports. When there are arrests mentioned in our daily logs, it does not mean there was a conviction. 

1. Power line down, 9:08 a.m., 275 3rd St.; A high voltage line came down in front of the Comerica Bank. Police cordoned off area. Powere was restored about four hours later.

2. Suspicious persons/circumstances 

- 12:38 a.m., W. Portola Ave & Los Altos Ave; suspicious person, officers responded and determined to be unfounded.

- 8:43 p.m., 00 block of Otis Way; suspicious circumstances, officers responded and cleared, no report.

3. Coyote sighting, 8:36 a.m., Nottingham Way/Robinhood Lane/St. Joseph Avenue; officers responded, but were unable to locate. 

4. Stranded motorist, 7:00 p.m., S. El Monte Avenue & Summerhill Avenue; motorist ran out of gas; officer rendered assistance, cleared. 

5. Domestic violence, 9:38 p.m., El Camino Real & Escuela Avenue, M.V.; domestic violence in progress, officers responded and arrested subject, report taken.
