Top 5 From the Los Altos Police Log, Jan. 4: A Dead Deer

Also a dog bite and a lot of suspicious characters, but there were few incidents meriting written reports.

The following are reports from the Los Altos Police log on Wednesday, Jan. 4. All incidents listed are initial reports. When there are arrests mentioned in our daily logs, it does not mean there was a conviction. 

1. Injured/Dead Animal, 6:17 a.m.; Foothill Expressway and Edith Avenue: report of an injured deer, officers checked area and could not locate; 10:18 a.m.: report of dead deer at same location; information relayed to Palo Alto Animal Control.

2. Petty theft, 9:04 a.m. 2000 block of Sereno Avenue: cold report of theft from vehicle. Report taken.

3. Suspicious vehicle/persons

- 9:31 a.m., Orange Avenue and Sherman Avenue; report of suspicious vehicle, officers contacted driver, cleared, no report.

- 1:43 p.m., 400 block of Guadalupe Avenue, report of suspicious circumstances, officers responded, contacted subject, no report taken.

- 3:30 p.m., 300 block of Distel Circle; report of suspicious person, officers responded, contacted person, cleared, no report.

- 5:39 p.m., Granger Avenue and Loyola Drive; report of suspicious person, possibly smoking marijuana, officers checked area and were unable to locate.

- 11:35 p.m., 700 block of Berry Avenue; reports of subjects acting suspiciously, police responded, reprimand, subjects released.  

4. Hit and run, 11:17 a.m., 1 Edith Ave.; late report of hit-and-run accident, no injuries; victim declines report.

5. Animal bite, 6:34 p.m., 200 block of Solana Avenue; dog bite report taken.
