Top 5 From the Los Altos Police Log, Feb. 24-27: Not (Really) Stolen
Never mind: Among the fender-benders, the trees down, the unlicensed driving and the public drunkeness, someone is thinking something—maybe even a car—has been stolen. Then it turns out it was misplaced. Or repossessed.

1. Driving without a license
- Feb. 25, 2012. 12:20 a.m., El Camino Real & Monroe Drive; Individual cited, licensed driver contacted to retrieve car.

2. Theft
- Feb. 25, 6:56 a.m., 100 block of W. Edith Avenue; Stolen vehicle, cold report. Unfounded, vehicle was repossessed.

- Feb. 25, 1:02 p.m.; 4800 block of El Camino Real; Petty theft, just occurred. Theft unfounded; property was misplaced, not stolen.
- Feb. 25, 2:17 p.m., 300 block of Hawthorne Ave; Identity theft, report taken.
- Feb. 25, 4:49 p.m. 1600 block of Emhurst Drive; Identity theft, cold report; report taken.
- Feb. 26, 2:56 p.m., 1700 block of Larkellen Lane; Grand theft, cold report; Cancelled by reporting party prior to officer's arrival.
- Feb. 26, 3:40 p.m., 300 block of Main Street; Petty theft, just occurred, no report desired by reporting party, information only at this time.
- Feb. 26, 7:00 p.m., 4800 block of El Camino Real; Stolen vehicle in progress, report of stolen vehicle, vehicle located.
3. Collisions, injuries both minor and major
- Feb. 24, 12:29 p.m., S. El Monte Avenue & University Avenue; Accident, minor injury. Report taken.
- Feb. 24, 12:29 pm, El Camino Real & San Antonio Road; Non-injury accident, officers responded and assisted with name exchange.
- Feb. 25, 10:24 p.m., 2310 Homestead Road, Private party traffic collision, no injuries, officer assisted with name exchange.
Feb. 26, 2:35 p.m., S. El Monte Avenue & I-280, Accident, major injury, information only, occurred in Sheriff's Department jurisdiction.
4. Tree Down
- Feb. 25, 12:19 a.m.; Linden Ave. & W. Portola Ave.; Public property, trees being cut down; Officer verified subjects have city permit to cut down trees.
5. Drunk in Public
- Feb. 27, 12:02 p.m.; El Camino Real & Showers Drive, Subject, 57-year-old male, seen stumbling about. Drunk in public, arrested and taken to main jail in San Jose.
